42. Then after them We brought forth other generations.

42. Then We raised after them other generations.

43. No nation can outstrip its term, nor yet postpone it.

43. No people can hasten their term nor can they delay (it).

44. Then We sent our messengers one after another. Whenever its messenger came unto 
a nation they denied him; so We caused them to follow one another (to disaster) and 
We made them bywords. A far removal for folk who believe not!
Yusuf Ali
44. Then sent We Our apostles in succession: every time there came to a people their 
apostle they accused him of falsehood: so We made them follow each other (in 
punishment): We made them as a tale (that is told): so away with a people that will 
not believe!

45. Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our tokens and a clear warrant

45. Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our Signs and authority manifest

46. Unto Pharaoh and his chiefs, but they scorned (them) and they were despotic 
folk.
Yusuf Ali
46. To Pharaoh and his Chiefs: but these behaved insolently: they were arrogant 
people.

47. And they said: Shall we put faith in two mortals like ourselves, and whose folk 
are servile unto us?
Yusuf Ali
47. They said: "Shall we believe in two men like ourselves? And their people are 
subject to us!"





M.Pickthall
48. So they denied them, and became of those who were destroyed.
Yusuf Ali
48. So they accused them of falsehood and they became of those who were destroyed.





M.Pickthall
49. And we verily gave Moses the Scripture, that haply they might go aright.
Yusuf Ali
49. And We gave Moses the Book in order that they might receive guidance.

50. And We made the son of Mary and his mother a portent, and We gave them refuge 
on a height, a place of flocks and water springs.
Yusuf Ali
50. And We made the son of Mary and his mother as a Sign: We gave them both shelter 
on high ground affording rest and security and furnished with springs.
