75. The Messiah, son of Mary, was no other than a messenger, messengers (the like of
whom) had passed away before him. And his mother was a saintly woman. And they both
used to eat (earthly) food. See how we make the revelations clear for them, and see
how they are turned away!
Yusuf Ali
75. Christ the son of Mary was no more than an Apostle; many were the Apostles that
passed away before him. His mother was a woman of truth. They had both to eat
their (daily) food. See how Allah doth makes His Signs clear to them; yet see in
what ways they are deluded away from the truth!

M.Pickthall
76. Say: Serve ye in place of Allah that which possesseth for you neither hurt nor
use? Allah it is Who is the Hearer, the Knower.
Yusuf Ali

or benefit you? But Allah He it is that heareth and knoweth all things."

M.Pickthall

truth, and follow not the vain desires of folk who erred of old and led many astray,
and erred from a plain road.
Yusuf Ali
77. Say: "O people of the Book! exceed not in your religion the bounds (of what is

M.Pickthall
78. Those of the children of Israel who went astray were cursed by the tongue of
David, and of Jesus, son of Mary. That was because they rebelled and used to transgress.
Yusuf Ali
78. Curses were pronounced on those among the Children of Israel who rejected faith
by the tongue of David and of Jesus the son of Mary: because they disobeyed and

that they used to do!
Yusuf Ali

80. Thou seest many of them making friends with those who disbelieve. surely ill
for them is that which they themselves send on before them : that Allah will be
wroth with them and in the doom they will abide.
Yusuf Ali
80. Thou seest many of them turning in friendship to the unbelievers. Evil indeed
are (the works) which their souls have sent forward before them (with the result)
that Allah's wrath is on them and in torment will they abide.

M.Pickthall
81. If they believed in Allah and the Prophet and that which is revealed unto him,
they would not choose them for their friends. But many of them are of evil conduct.
Yusuf Ali
81. If only they had believed in Allah in the Apostle and in what hath been revealed
to him never would they have taken them for friends and protectors but most of them
are rebellious wrong-doers.

M.Pickthall
82. Thou wilt find the most vehement of mankind in hostility to those who , believe
(to be) the Jews and the idolaters. And thou wilt find the nearest of them in
affection to those who believe (to be) those who say: Lo! We are Christians. That
is because there are among them priests and monks, and because they are not proud.
Yusuf Ali
82. Strongest among men in enmity to the believers wilt thou find the Jews and
Pagans; and nearest among them in love to the believers wilt thou find those who
say: "We are Christians:" because amongst these are men devoted to learning and
men who have renounced the world and they are not arrogant.
