160. Because of the wrongdoing of the Jews We forbade them good things which were
(before) made lawful unto them, and because of their much hindering from Allah's way,

160. For the iniquity of the Jews We made unlawful for them certain (foods) good and
wholesome which had been lawful for them; in that they hindered many from Allah's way.

161. And of their taking usury when they were forbidden it, and of their devouring
people's wealth by false pretences. We have prepared for those of them who disbelieve
a painful doom.
Yusuf Ali
161. That they took usury (interest) though they were forbidden; and that they
devoured men's substance wrongfully; We have prepared for those among them who reject
faith a grievous punishment.

162. But those of them who are firm in knowledge and the believers believe in that which
is revealed unto thee, and that which was revealed before thee, especially the diligent
in prayer and those who pay the poor due, the believers in Allah and the Last Day. Upon
these We shall bestow immense reward.
Yusuf Ali
162. But those among them who are well-grounded in knowledge and the believers believe
in what hath been revealed to thee; and (especially) those who establish regular prayer
and practice regular charity and believe in Allah and in the Last Day: to them shall We
soon give a great reward.
