by which the Prophets who surrendered (unto Allah)
judged the Jews, and the rabbis and the priests
(judged) by such of Allah's Scripture as they were
bidden to observe, and thereunto were they witnesses.

Why do not the rabbis and the priests forbid
their evil speaking and their devouring of
illicit gain? Verily evil is their handiwork.

And thou wilt find the nearest of them in affection
to those who believe (to be) those who say:
Lo! We are Christians. That is because there
are among them priests and monks, and because
they are not proud

They have taken as lords beside Allah their rabbis
and their monks and the Messiah son of Mary,

O ye, who believe! Lo! many of the (Jewish) rabbis
and the (Christian) monks devour the wealth of
mankind wantonly and debar (men) from the way of Allah
