And know that whatever ye take as spoils of war,
lo! a fifth thereof is for Allah, and for the
messenger and for the kinsmen (who hath need)
and orphans and the needy and the wayfarer;
if ye believe in Allah and that which We revealed
unto Our slave on the Day of Discrimination,
the day when the two armies met.

Lo! those of you who turned back on the day 
when the two hosts met, Satan alone it was 
who caused them to backslide, because of 
some of that which they have earned

That which befell you, on the day when the 
two armies met, was by permission of Allah; 
that He might know the true believers
1

And the dwellers on the Heights call unto men whom
they know by their marks, (saying): What did your
multitude and that in which ye took your pride
avail you?
