And We imposed a duty upon Abraham and Ishmael,
(saying): Purify My house
1

go not in unto them till they are cleansed.
1

And when they have purified themselves, then
go in unto them as Allah hath enjoined upon you
1


Truly Allah loveth those who turn unto Him,
and loveth those who have a care for cleanness
1

That is more virtuous for you, and cleaner
1

And when the angels said: O Mary! Lo! Allah hath
chosen thee and made thee pure, and hath preferred
thee above (all) the women of creation
1

and am cleansing thee of those who disbelieve 
1

O ye who believe! When ye rise up for prayer,
wash your face, and your hands up to the elbows,
and lightly rub your heads and (wash) your feet
up to the ankles. And if ye are unclean,
purify yourselves
1

Allah would not place a burden on you, but He would
purify you and would perfect His grace upon you,
that ye may give thanks
1

Those are they for whom the will of Allah is that
He cleanse not their hearts. Theirs in the world
will be ignominy, and in the Hereafter an awful doom;
1

And the  answer of his people was only that they
said (one to another): Turn them out of your
township. They are folk, forsooth, who keep pure.

and sent down water from the sky upon you,
that thereby He might purify you, and
remove from you the fear of Satan, and make
strong your hearts and firm (your) feet thereby
1

Take alms of their wealth, wherewith thou mayst
purify them and mayst make them grow, and pray
for them. Lo! thy prayer is an assuagement
for them.
1

A place of worship which was founded upon duty
(to Allah) from the first day is more worthy
that thou shouldst stand (to pray) therein,
wherein are men who love to purify themselves.
