Say: My Lord enjoineth justice. And set
your faces, upright (toward Him) at every
place of worship and call upon Him, making
religion pure for Him (only). As He brought
you into being, so return ye (unto Him)
1

O Children of Adam! Look to your adornment
at every place of worship,
1

And on the Heights are men who know them all by their marks
1

and then cause water to descend thereon,
and thereby bring forth fruits of every kind. 
1

Lurk not on every road to threaten (wayfarers)
1

To bring each knowing wizard unto thee
1

and if they see each token believe it not,
1

I will throw fear into the hearts of those
who disbelieve. Then smite the necks and
smite of them each finger.
1

And fight them until persecution is no more,
and religion is all for Allah.
1

All were evil doers.
1

Then, when the sacred months have passed,
slay the idolaters wherever ye find them,
and take them (captive), and besiege them,
and prepare for them each ambush.
1

He it is who hath sent His messenger with the
guidance and the Religion of Truth, that He may
cause it to prevail over all religion, however
much the idolaters may be averse.
1

And the believers should not all go out to fight.
Of every troop of them, a party only should go forth,
that they (who are left behind) may gain sound
knowledge in religion, and that they may warn
their folk when they return to them, so that
they may beware.
1

He it is Who maketh you to go on the land and
the sea till, when ye are in the ships and
they sail with them with a fair breeze and
they are glad therein, a storm wind reacheth
them and the wave cometh unto them from every
side and they deem that they are overwhelmed
therein; (then) they cry unto Allah, making 
their faith pure for Him only: If Thou deliver
us from this, we truly will be of the thankful.

And Pharaoh said: Bring every cunning wizard unto me
1

Though every token come unto them, till they
see the painful doom
1

And if thy Lord willed, all who are in the earth
would have believed together.
