Hearing, to hear, ears

Of them are some who listen unto thee, but We have
placed upon their hearts veils, lest they should
understand, and in their ears a deafness.

Had Allah Known of any good in them He would have made
them hear, but had He made them hear they would have
turned away, averse
1

And if anyone of the idolaters seeketh thy
protection (O Muhammad) , then protect him
so that he may hear the word of Allah;
and afterward convey him to his place of safety.

Had they gone forth among you they had added
to you naught save trouble and had hurried
to and fro among you, seeking to cause sedition
among you; and among you there are some who
would have listened to them.
1

Say (unto them O Muhammad): who provideth for you
from the sky and the earth, or Who owneth hearing
and sight; and Who bringeth forth the living from
the dead and bringeth forth dead from the living;
and Who directeth the course? They will say: Allah.
They say: Will ye not then keep your duty (unto Him)

And of them are some who listen unto thee.
But canst thou make the deaf to hear even
though they apprehend not?
