ASTRAY

If thou obeyedst most of those on earth they would mislead 
thee far from Allah's way.

One who without knowledge, guidance, a light giving 
scripture and payeth for mere pastime of discourse, to 
mislead others from Allah's way, will have shameful doom.

...and follow not desire that it beguile thee from the way of Allah.

..Lo! those who wander from the way of Allah have an awful doom, 
forasmuch as they forgot the Day of Reckoning.

These are they who purchase error at the price of guidance,....

These are they who purchase error at the price of guidance,....

....and that which ye presumed hath failed you.

....and that which they devised bath failed them.

whose effort goeth astray in the life of the world,
and yet they reckon that they do good work.

And those to whom they used to cry of old have failed them, 

Allah expoundeth unto you, so that ye err not.

Say: O People of the Scripture! Stress not in your
religion other than the truth, and follow not the
vain desires of folk who erred of old and led many
astray, and erred from a plain road

and whomsoever it is His will to send astray,
He maketh his bosom close and narrow as if he
were engaged in sheer ascent

He said: O my people! There Is no in error me,
but I am a messenger from the Lord of the Worlds.

He who Allah leadeth, he indeed is led aright,
while he whom Allah sendeth astray--- 
they indeed are losers
1

It was never Allah's (part) that he should
send a folk astray after He had guided them
until He had made clear unto them what
they should avoid.
